Staff news:
Congratulations to James and Logan for their successful summit bid on Ama Dablam!
Congratulations to Jed and Annie on their successful climbing trip to Greenland, where they made first ascents on several previously unclimbed peaks! Welcome home!

Lana Olson, founder. Since 1996, Lana has been organizing, previewing,
leading and following up on all aspects of the trips we offer. She has recently retired from the club, to be a full time Mom. But no fears... the Club has been left in great hands with Richard and the staff below. Lana has done most of the trips we offer, and still consults with the club staff.

Richard
Bothwell, CFO
(Chief Fun Officer) and head
guide. Since 1996, Richard has been our backwoods expert,
technical director, and a pretty good backcountry cook, too.
Richard has climbed
and guided OAC trips all over the world including 4 of the 7 summits
up Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, and Elbrus. He's climbed extensively in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru, and snowboarded down 24,000' peaks in China.
He's surfed on four continents as well.
Richard is certified
by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) as a top rope
site manager and holds a Wilderness First Responder certification as well as a AIARE Level II Avalanche certificate. He has completed the AMGA Backcountry Ski Guide Course, and is pursuing full certification through the AMGA

James Adamson:
Our "ropegun" , James is an accomplished rock climber.
In his free time, James likes to climb– fast. He is often
in Yosemite, climbing the walls of El Cap or Half Dome– In
a day! James is equally at home on big mountains, too. He's summited peaks all over the world, including Aconcagua, Ama Dablam, and Tocllaraju. James is pursuing full certification as an American Mountain
Guides Association Rock guide. He has completed the AMGA's Rock
Instructor program and holds a Wilderness First Responder certification. James is an excellent teacher, and his passion
for rock climbing is infectious. |
 |
Jed Porter:
Jed goes climbing and skiing in the Sierras as often as most people
go to work! He's been based in Bishop, California for the past few
years where being a substitute teacher occasionally interrupts his
climbing and back country ski days. He is certified by the AMGA
as a Top Rope Site Manager, and has completed the AMGA Backcountry Ski Guide Course and Rock Instructor Course. Jed holds a Wilderness First Responder
certification. Heleads day
hikes, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, and
anything else the OAC throws at him. He makes a mean salsa,
and is a fun guy to spend a few days in the woods with. |
 |
Annie Trujillo: Whether you meet Annie on a hike, a climbing trip, or a canoe trip,
you'll be impressed. She has the biggest "fan club" of folks who ask when she'll be guiding the next
trip. She has been trained by the American Mountain Guides Association,
and is currently preparing for her certification exam with the AMGA.
She also holds a Wilderness First Responder certification, and has
spent 40 days in the outback surviving the rigorous outdoor leadership
training offered in a NOLS course. She's super nice, but don't think
she's soft- she's paddled a canoe for 6 weeks in the middle of Alaska,
and loves sleeping in the back of her pickup!

Justin Schwartz: Justin has been around bikes his whole life. He spent the last decade racing mountain bikes at the national level, where he was ranked as high as 8th in the country. Justin spent 8 years as a shop mechanic as well. His riding and "wrenching" skills are only matched by his teaching skills and his smile.
Whether you are just beginning to ride, or looking to go big, Justin is a great guy to ride with. |
 |
Sarah Tateishi: Sarah is an accomplished outdoorswoman. She has hiked, climbed and backpacked all over the country, including trips to Alaska. She is a Wilderness First Responder, holds a Leave No Trace Master Certificate, and an Avalanche Level I certificate, and she completed a NOLS Outdoor Educator Course in 2007. You're in good hands when you go with Sarah. That pack is roughly 2/3 her body weight, by the way! |
