Mountain Bike Ride/Clinic at China Camp in Marin

Learn to Mountain Bike at China Camp with the OAC!
Beginner mountain bikers: Does biking with significant others make you feel insignificant? Does the idea of taking it off road and disappearing into the trees on your bike sound a bit intimidating? The Outdoor Adventure Club can help with a clinic that will teach you how to ride, without hating the sport (or your significant other) at the end of the day! Spend the day learning all about mountain biking with our very patient guides.
Why get frustrated when you can learn in this very friendly, supportive environment. Our clinic will take place in China Camp in San Rafael, a perfect place with a variety of terrain. This clinic will focus on riding technique and get you off the pavement and on to some single track. There will be an emphasis on the fundamentals of riding technique including riding position, riding uphill, downhill, cornering, and clearing obstacles such as logs and rocks.
At lunch and during breaks, we will spend some time talking about the gear, clothing, and accessories. We’ll try to show what works and what doesn’t, and most importantly, what products and techniques equate to more fun on the bike.
Intermediate and advanced mountain bikers are also welcome to join us for our day of mountain bike fun. Who knows, you may even learn a thing or two. There are over 30 miles of trails at China Camp, with plenty of ups and downs on everything from mellow single track to rocky, rutted fire roads.

Includes:
- A professional guide, certified as a Wilderness First Responder
- Expert instruction on many facets of mountain biking, designed to make you feel comfortable on your bike, and guaranteed to make you smile
- Lunch and beverages
- Mountain bikes are not included but OAC can suggest where you can rent them
- A carpool list so you can arrange rides to the trip
You'll need to bring:
A recommended gear list will come with your confirmed reservation, but you should generally be prepared with the following:
- Mountain bike
- Helmet required (no helmet, no ride, no exceptions)
- Cycling shorts or pants and jersey or t-shirt
- Sunglasses preferably with retention strap
- Cycling gloves are highly recommended but not required
- Lightweight jacket in case of wind
- Water bottles or Camelbak
- Parking fee of $5
