Memorial Day Weekend Hiking and Camping, Hodgdon Meadows in Yosemite National ParkMay 25-28, 2012
We'll be camping in Hodgen Meadows where we have a group campsite for the weekend for great meals and socializing. During the days, we'll head out for day hikes in various areas of Yosemite National Park. We'll pick our day hike destinations based on the experience and enthusiasm of the group. Your experienced OAC guides know all the great trails in the area and a few secret spots, so we'll have a great hike each day.
Back in camp we'll take care of all the food for the weekend and all the group gear. You'll need personal gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc) but we'll take care of all the kitchen equipment necessary for a great weekend.
We'll be car camping so we can bring (almost) all the comforts of home. Bring your pillows and camp chairs and relax. We have a great campsite with plenty of room (it can accommodate 30 people!). It's going to be a great weekend!
The Outdoor Adventure Club guides will be cooking up some great meals on the trip. Be ready to eat well as we spend the weekend in the woods, and let us know if you have any dietary
The Trip: On Friday evening, we'll meet at our campsite in Hodgdon Meadows and set up camp.
On Saturday, we'll enjoy a warm breakfast at camp before heading out for the afternoon to one of our favorite hikes. Its a beautiful wooded hike along the Tuolumne River to a secret waterfall with no crowds. The hike is a relatively easy 4.5 miles with a short steep climb near the end of the trail. Its also a great swimming spot if the weather cooperates. In the evening back at camp, the OAC guides will whip up a fantastic camp side dinner. We might even take a short evening hike so bring your headlamps.
On Sunday, we'll rise early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, then strike out for the top of North America's tallest waterfall,
On Monday, we'll wake to a warm breakfast and coffee. You'll have the option to go on an easy, mellow half day hike through the Tuolumne grove of Sequoias to finish up the weekend, or just relax and prepare to head back home.
Of course you'll also have the option of doing a whole lot of nothing all weekend. Bring a comfortable chair and book and just chill by the camp enjoying the great outdoors. Outdoor Adventure Club camping trips are known for great food, and this will be no exception.
