Hike in Tule Elk Preserve to the Coast in Point Reyes

April 22 and July, 2012

Hiking with Tule ElkJoin us on a beautiful coastal hike in Point Reyes in the Tule Elk Preserve!

We are going to hike a 9-mile out and back trail in Point Reyes. Our trail will take us along gently rolling terrain out to Tomales Point, where we will have a tasty picnic lunch. We should see plenty of wildlife along the way. We will be passing through a Tule Elk Preserve where we should catch glimpses of herds of these amazing animals. Bring your camera!

This hike is considered to be easy terrain, but a moderate distance. It has 800 feet of elevation gain over the entire 9+ mile trail. Hikers should be in good physical condition, and comfortable hiking similar distances.

Along the way your Outdoor Adventure Club guide will show you the way, keep the conversation going, and serve up a great OAC lunch, too!

Experience level:

This is considered a moderate level hike due to the distance. Reasonably fit beginners should also be fine as there is minimal elevation gain on the trip. The out and back route will allow people who are "pooped" to rest until the group catches back up to them. Trail runners can also come out and lead the charge if they wish.
