The "Lakes Loop" 10 mile hike on Mt Tam in Marin

Come join your OAC friends as we loop our way through 10 miles of beautiful hiking in Marin. The high point of our hike will be the summit of Mt Tam, with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay and Marin.
Our hike starts at Lake Lagunitas and climbs steadily up the north side of Mt Tam, until we reach the summit area. an optional side trip will take us to the summit itself. After taking in the views, we'll continue along the summit ridge, before starting back downhill to complete the ten mile loop.
The distance for the trail is about 10 miles, and climbs just over 2000 feet as it works its way up Mt Tam, making this a solid intermediate hike.
We will begin the hike at 9:00 a.m. We don't like to pin down a finish time for the hike, as some times the group will want to linger at lunch or take a side trip along the way. Generally hikes are finished by 3:00 p.m., though. After the hike we usually regroup for a beer, snack or ice cream to exted the day with OAC friends.

Specific driving directions for the trip will come with your confirmed reservation.

You'll need to bring:
A recommended gear list will come with your confirmed reservation, but you should generally be prepared with the following:
- Clothes appropriate for the weather (avoid wearing cotton)
- Appropriate footwear
- 2 liters of water
- A small daypack to hold your water and spare clothing layers

This price does not include the trailhead parking fee of $5/car.
