Hike the Peters Creek Loop in Portola Redwoods State Park

May 20 and October 14, 2012

Hiking in Peters Creek GroveIf you are looking for a challenging hike that will take you to what the SFGate.com calls one of the "best spots to find outdoors solitute in the Bay Area" then join us on this 11.5 mile loop hike to Peters Creek Grove in Portola Redwoods State Park.

This hike is pretty adventurous and you should be in good hiking shape to take it on. Not only is the mileage long, but includes a slow steady climb through a mixed forest of redwoods, Douglas Fir, oak and madrone trees and steep descents to reach the 3rd largest old-growth redwood grove in the Santa Cruz mountains. Expect this to be a full day of hiking.

Once we reach the grove, we'll have a hearty lunch by the creek and enjoy the peacefulness of the area. Along with the magnifcient tress is a verdant carpet of ferns, redwood sorrel, miner's lettuce and in springtime, trilliums.

Along the way your Outdoor Adventure Club guide will show you the way, keep the conversation going, and bring along a great OAC lunch, too!

Meet new friends, explore the trails with experienced guides and make this weekend count!
