Hike to the Tourist Club near Muir Woods in Marin

January 29, 2012

Hiking in Muir WoodsOverlooking Muir Woods, the Tourist Club is one of the "best kept secrets in the Bay Area." Built in 1914, by a group of German Nature Friends, the Tourist Club offers a little bit of luxury off the beaten track, and more importantly, off the paved road! What makes it so special is its inaccessibility via motorized transport. That means everyone visiting must hike to it!

We will hike around Mt. Tamalpais State Park on the Dipsea and Sun trail for about nine miles, through forest and open fields. As always, the OAC provides a delicious lunch. We will set up a picnic at the Tourist Club and discover the history of its building. While we're there, make sure to bring a few dollars for a nice cold beer. Yes, you can drink a pint on the deck of the club, with great views, fresh air and friends!

Along the way your Outdoor Adventure Club guide will show you the way, keep the conversation going, and serve up a great OAC lunch. Meet new friends, explore the trails with experienced guides and make this weekend count!
