2 Days Rafting on the Middle Fork of the American River with Camping

June 30-July 1, 2012

whitewater rafting on american riverHere's an OAC July 4th tradition - rafting and camping on the Middle Fork of the American River! It's the perfect blend of relaxation and adrenaline!

This trip has two great days of rafting, and we camp on the river on Saturday night. Camping on the river is a special treat that most American River rafters never get to do.

The Middle Fork of the American is a great combination of adrenailine pumping Class IV rapids and sections of mellower water with wild scenery and where we'll be looking for bear, otter, eagles, and trout. Our trip will go through the well known Tunnel Chute rapid, carved into the river by gold miners in 1889. This class 4 ride will get your blood pumping. However, you will see other class 4 rapids on our two-day trip not experienced in the typical 1 day trip.

During this wilderness-style trip, you will camp on the sand bars along the way. Pack your sleeping bag and personal gear and we put them in dry bags and transport them down river in gear boats. Be prepared for a night where the fireworks are from firelies and brilliantly sparkling stars. Most people sleep under the stars, but you are welcome to bring a tent if you like. Throughout the weekend, you will be pampered with gourmet meals, and fireside socializing and entertainment.

First time paddlers are welcome if you are fit and have an adventurous spirit. Wel provide experienced river guides who will coach you and teach beginners the skills needed to be a part of a strong rafting team. What a great way to spend a summer weekend!
